Network Radio Transmission Supervisor

Operations & Maintenance – Network

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:

•Responsible for Radio /Transmission system planning, operation and optimization for the business objectives.

•Supervises and Coordinates activities of R&T section to ensure high uptime of cell sites.

•To maintain and intervene on the Switch, Data canter and Cable Landing Station in the entire organization.

Key Performance Areas:

Key Tasks:

•Develops and implement policies and functional procedures for R&T activities within maintenance department

•Excellent supervision on all activities within R&T section

•Negotiates and agrees with Maintenance manager the results they will achieve and deliver those results in order to meet the needs of the business

•Replies to fault reports and constant follow on it until it is closed

•Keeps track on spares availability and repair/return items

•Attends faults on urgent basis and report accordingly

•Give insights/inputs in making decisions that impact Power equipment tender taking into consideration specifications, and check that suppliers meet MTN’s standards for tender purposes.

•Develop scope for contractors for evaluation of works and undertaking of acceptance,-testing, integration to ensure smooth operations of the network.

•Attends faults on urgent basis and report accordingly

•Maintains records on link parameters, commissioning reports and BER results and update them accordingly for any changes

•Upgrades or changes material replacement in order to ensure the best is delivered

•Ensure implementation of improvements to operational procedures, as well as network management tools.

•Ensure that the MS vendor develop efficient processes and procedures.

•Oversee the delivery of regular and ad-hoc work related reports & presentations.

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks:

•Set goals and objectives for direct reports, monitor progress and maintain motivation

•Manage performance of team.

•Identify staff training and development needs and implement necessary actions

•Responsible for Career management of team

•Input in hiring talents.

•Create an enabling culture and environment for team to deliver on business objectives

Minimum Requirements

Education:

•Telecommunication/ Electronic or Electro technical / Engineering or an equivalent qualification,

•Formal Management education

Experience:

•Five years hands-on experience in implementation and Coordinates activities of Radio &Transmission section to ensure high uptime of cell sites

•2 years of which must have been in a supervisory role

General working conditions:

•Assigned working hours. 24/7 Call outs when urgent.

•Lap top
