Background:

 The Fund for Export Development in Africa (“FEDA” or “Fund”) is a private equity capital fund mandated to promote development in Africa.  FEDA is a subsidiary of the African Export-Import Bank. African Export-Import Bank (the “Bank” or “Afreximbank”) is a multilateral financial institution established in 1993 under the Agreement Establishing (the Establishment Agreement) the African Export-Import Bank by African Governments, African private and institutional investors as well as non-African financial institutions and private investors for the purpose of financing, promoting, and expanding intra-and extra-African trade.

Responsibilities:

  Administration of the Financial Operations and Treasury of FEDA, monitoring of control systems designed to preserve FEDA’s investments and reporting accurate financial results.

Acting as a central point of contact between FEDA and outsourced service providers such as auditors, lawyers, accountants, compliance providers, etc.

Responsible for overseeing Shared Services Center (SSC) consisting bookkeepers, fund accountants, fund administrator, Information Technology software implementation etc. as well as providing the operational direction and managing the day-to-day operations of the SSC in line with the service level agreement.

Coordinate external and internal audits for all entities associated with FEDA.

Coordinate Company secretarial duties of FEDA.

Act between the FEDA operations and the wider Afreximbank senior management.

The central contact point for the Fund’s Reporting to its Limited Partners.

Responsible for the Fund’s critical deliverables to investors (Quarterly / Annual Report to Limited Partners, etc.).

Work in tandem with Investment Professionals to execute investment including reviewing the financial models.

Requirements: Qualification and Skills

  Bachelor’s in accounting, Economics, Finance, Business or related.

Relevant Masters’ degrees will be an added advantage.

Relevant professional certifications e.g. CPA, ACA, CFA, ACCA or equivalent accounting professional qualification is required.

Minimum of 15 years relevant experience (of which 5 years’) should be in a financial/accounting role with a private equity firm

Experience of statutory financial reporting and knowledge of IFRS.

Experience working with/in the operations team of a private equity.

Member of Egyptian Society of Accountants and Auditors (ESAA).

Big Four Audit experience will be an added advantage.
